Description
The Penrith Regional Gallery, home of the Lewers legacy, is arguably one of Australia's finest regional galleries. Located in historic gardens on the west bank of the Nepean River in Emu Plains, the gallery was established in 1981 in the former home of sculptor Gerald Lewers and his wife, painter Margo Lewers, two of the leading artists in the development of Modernism.
The gallery website was gifted to the people of Penrith in 1980 by the Margo and Gerald Lewers family of artists. As a gallery with 100,000 visitors a year, it remains true to its origins as a place of creativity and hospitality.
