Mundaring - The Heart of the Perth Hills
Drop down a gear…. Enjoy a breath of fresh air and discover a whole new world in the heart of the hills, just 40 minutes from Perth.
Immerse yourself in nature. Walk or cycle some amazing trails, take a scenic drive through spectacular State forest, enjoy the region’s arts, history and culture, or simply throw down the picnic blanket and chill out in a secluded spot, tucked away from the world.
The Shire of Mundaring covers an area of 644 sq. km and one third of its total area is State Forest. Our villages are steeped in a rich history, closely linked by the old railway line that is now the fabulous Railway Reserves Heritage Trail stretching some 59kms through the shire. The amazing engineering feat that is the Mundaring Weir with the water pipeline to the Eastern Goldfields region is also here.
The Munda Biddi off road cycle trail starts in the town of Mundaring and there is numerous other walk and cycle trails to explore. We have a terrific range of accommodation on offer; fine food at award winning restaurants, country taverns, wineries, arts and wildlife, plus a range of exciting events on the calendar, including the very popular Mundaring Truffle Festival and Darlington Arts Festival. The Shire is also home to beautiful Lake Leschenaultia, the Karakamia Wildlife Sanctuary and the Perth Hills Discovery Centre.
