Description
Pointer Gap Lookout is a magnificent viewpoint in the southeastern area of Morton National Park adjacent to Yatte Yattah on Princes Highway.
It offers stunning panoramic sights of the South Coast of New South Wales. Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, wildflower viewing, and a beautiful picnic area. A short, easy walk leads to the summit of the escarpment where fresh coastal breezes await. From this peak, visitors can gaze upon a beautiful stretch of coastline that includes Sussex Inlet and Bawley Point near Milton.
Spring is the best time to visit as the surrounding heathland comes to life with vibrant blooms. It's the perfect time to see the flowering tea tree in pink and white colors, as well as pink boronia. The lookout attracts abundant birdlife during this time, making it ideal for birdwatchers. The lookout is open year-round, but spring offers the best experience.
To get to Pointer Gap Lookout, visitors can drive to the lookout and park in the car park at the base of the escarpment. From there, a short and easy walk leads to the lookout. While visiting, visitors can enjoy lunch or have a BBQ at the tables provided while admiring the breathtaking views. Regardless of the type of traveler, Pointer Gap Lookout is a must-visit location in Morton National Park that can be enjoyed year-round.
