Description
The Red Rocks Trig Walking Track Browns Mountain is a rewarding walk in New South Wales that takes you through a natural heathland environment on the Hawkesbury sandstone plateau.
It offers magnificent views of the surrounding area and is best enjoyed on a clear day with binoculars and a topographic map.
One of the highlights of this walk is the Red Rocks trig station, which provides stunning views of Kangaroo Valley and the surrounding landscape. With a good topographic map, you can identify features such as Mount Skanzi, Mount Moollattoo, and Mount Carrialoo. The heathland also provides a habitat for various bird species, making it a great spot for birdwatching.
The best time to do this walk is during spring and autumn when the weather is milder and the heathland is in full bloom with wildflowers. It is better to avoid the track during the hot and dry summer months and the unpredictable and slippery winter months.
To get to the Red Rocks Trig Walking Track Browns Mountain, you can drive to the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. There is a parking area at the beginning of the track, which is approximately 2.5km return and takes 1-2 hours to complete. The track is well signposted, making navigation easy.
