Description

Redleap Recreation Reserve in Mill Park covers 8.3 hectares and offers various facilities and attractions.

These include a football and cricket oval, sports pavilion, basketball stadium, walking tracks, car parking, two playgrounds, and public toilets.

The City of Whittlesea has developed a Master Plan for the reserve to ensure ongoing improvements. As recommended in the Master Plan, the southern play space will be upgraded in 2022 to cater to a wider range of age groups.

The southern play space, accessible via Redleap Avenue, will undergo upgrades in 2022. The new play space will feature updated play equipment with a focus on nature play, a flying fox, a basketball half-court, an upgraded shelter with a BBQ and picnic settings, an accessible carousel, and drinking fountains. The existing public toilet will be retained. Construction is expected to begin in mid-2022 and be completed by November 2022.

Recent improvements to the reserve include the construction of a dog off-leash area and upgrades to the practice cricket nets. The Victorian Government's Growing Suburbs Fund has contributed $545,000 to the upgrade of Redleap Recreation Reserve.

Peter Hopper Lake, located within the reserve, is temporarily closed due to poor water quality. The council is working to restore the water quality and regularly monitors the site. Aquatic wildlife is being removed or relocated as necessary.

Redleap Recreation Reserve is easily accessible by car or public transport. Ample car parking is available on-site, and the nearest train station is South Morang Station, followed by a short bus ride to Redleap Avenue.
