Description
Named a "rockstar" of the WA wine industry by The West Australian Wine Guide, this 5 Star Halliday-rated winery is the place for chilled wine tastings, home-made gelato and Summer Sunday sessions.
Located less than 15kms from the Southern Ocean, Rockcliffe Wines experiences perfect conditions for its slow-ripening, cool climate grapes. Purchased by geologist Dr Steve Hall in 2002, Rockcliffe (formerly named Matilda's Estate) was renamed following extensive refurbishment of the Cellar Door, Art Gallery and Restaurant in 2013. The name comes from a stretch of 100m high granite cliffs that dominate the eastern end of Denmark's main bay. Rockcliffe Wines has received many awards in recent years including Most Improved Winery Award from the WA Wine Guide in 2014 and its James Halliday 5 Star Rating.
The Wines
Rockcliffe Wines' range of estate-grown wines echo popular local surf place names, and include varieties of Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Rose, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Sparkling Shiraz, Sparkling Cuvee and Port Muscat.
Cellar Door
Rockcliffe Wines' relaxed cellar door offers a selection of wines for tasting alongside house-made, artisan gelatos and sorbets. It is known locally for its Sunday sessions with live music and occasional Sunday markets throughout Summer. Open daily from 11am - 5pm.
