Description
Look closer... Roslyn Hamdorf likes to paint large landscapes and concentrates on the connections between sky, sea, rocks and sand.
"It appears I like rocks" and it is true, geology and geography of our Australian landscape have always been a source of wonder and excitement for me.
I am happy immersed in nature or else at my easel painting my representation of what I see and experience.
I am especially interested in the relationship of balance, tension and quiet spaces in nature and within my works.
I enjoy sharing my studio with others and am always happy to find like-minded "rock lovers".
I will often then magnify these images down to the small stones, grains of sand, pools of water or droplets that make up these large vistas. Or in turn, I may paint an envelope sized piece of land as if it were an expansive landscape. It is the lines, colour and textures that are repeated everywhere, big...and small!
