Rymill Park, formerly known as Mullawirraburka, is a recreational park in Adelaide, South Australia.
It was historically used as a camping ground by the Aboriginal Kaurna people and later by other Aboriginal groups before being redeveloped.
Located between East Terrace, Dequetteville Terrace, and Rundle and Bartels roads, Rymill Park is a popular destination for both tourists and locals. The park offers various amenities such as an artificial lake where visitors can hire rowboats from Loch & Quay, a cafe with an upmarket menu. Other features include a rose garden, playgrounds, shaded avenues, and barbecue facilities. The park is also home to John Dowie's "Alice" statue and the "Piccanniny" drinking fountain.
Throughout the year, Rymill Park hosts numerous cultural and sporting events, including Festival of Arts events, Aero Challenge, Adelaide Fringe, Feast, Adelaide Carnevale, Gluttony, and the Adelaide International Horse Trials.
The park is known for its diverse flora and fauna. It houses several tree species that provide roosts and hollows for nesting and residing birds. Common bird species found in the park include crested pigeons, magpies, magpie-larks, eastern rosellas, rainbow lorikeets, Australian white ibis, and various ducks. The artificial lake serves as a permanent water source for ducks, with Pacific black ducks and Australian wood ducks being the most commonly sighted species.
Additionally, Rymill Park is home to brushtail possums, which rest in tree hollows during the day and come out at night to feed and forage.
