Description
Sandy Winkle is a creative and every waking moment is spent using her imagination to create something beautiful out of nature or upcycling materials.
She works from her beloved studio called the Sheila Shack tucked away in bushland 5 kilometres from Dunsborough. Sandy’s studio is a treasure trove of handwoven baskets that she learnt from indigenous teachers in Kakadu and has pushed herself to grow and give her pieces their own life using recycled fabric, raffia and beads. Mosaic mannequins made with upcycled jewellery and treasures collected over the years adorn the gardens.
Sandy has been a painter since her early teens and loves experimenting with hand made silk paper to add tactile interest to her eclectic pieces, varying from portraits, ocean landscapes and local flora and fauna. Also an award winning photographer, her images feed her soul and showcase her passion for bees.
Sandy hopes that as you roam her studio it encourages you to get inspired, create and enjoy the beauty that nature provides.
