This popular spot along the Eurobodalla coastline offers an exceptional snorkelling experience with its seagrass meadows, diverse reef systems, and a variety of marine life including stingrays and banjo sharks.
There are two main areas for snorkelling at Broulee Island. Pink Rocks bay, located on the north eastern point of the island, is a calm and protected area with waters that are about two to four metres deep. This area is known for its seagrass meadows and occasional sightings of stingrays and banjo sharks. It is an ideal spot for beginners to explore.
The southern side of the island is another popular snorkelling area, offering different habitats around the reef system such as sand flats, big reef walls, and shallow reefs. This area is perfect for those who enjoy exploration and is home to unique marine life including green turtles, the endangered weedy sea dragon, and eastern blue devil fish.
Getting to Broulee Island is easy, with clear signage directing visitors from George Bass Drive. Simply follow Broulee Road, which becomes Grant Street, then turn right onto Heath Street, followed by a left onto Bayside Street, and finally a right onto Harbour Drive. At the end of the road, there is a car park available for visitors.
