Description
Somerset Trail Mount Mee is a 13 km return looped circuit suitable for families.
The trail takes around 3 to 4 hours to complete and offers a moderate hiking experience. It is well-maintained and signposted, going through open and pine forest, pockets of rainforest and canopies, and showcasing a mix of landscapes. The trail is easily accessible and suitable for children with a reasonable level of fitness.
The trail features a diverse range of flora and fauna, with scenic views across the Brisbane Valley. The trail also provides insights into the area's history and development, with remnants of the old logging industry scattered throughout the forest.
The Gantry Day Use Area offers picnic and toilet facilities for hikers to use before starting their hike. Hikers should come prepared with energy snacks, sunscreen, and hats. The trail is well-maintained but mostly uphill, and some parts can be slippery after rainfall. Comfortable walking shoes are advised.
Somerset Trail Mount Mee can be enjoyed throughout the year. Hikers can visit the trail at their convenience, but those visiting during the summer months should be prepared for the heat and bring plenty of water.
