Description
Experience a 17-kilometer sea kayaking adventure along the serene coastline of South Durras to Batemans Bay in the Batemans Marine Park.
This exciting activity is ideal for those seeking thrill and natural beauty.
While on this trip, you will have a chance to explore the fascinating geology of the region, dating back to between 200 and 300 million years. You will come across the "Wagonga formation" and witness remarkable geological features.
It is important to note that landing on most beaches along the kayaking route can be difficult during a southerly swell due to powerful surf. Plan ahead and check the conditions before embarking on your kayaking journey.
Prepare for your adventure by launching at the boat ramp at Cookies Beach in South Durras. If you prefer a shorter option or a picnic stop, finish off at Maloneys Beach. Facilities such as barbeque picnic areas and toilets are available at various locations along the route.
Kayaking at Bateman Marine Park can be enjoyed all year round. Summer months offer calm waters and abundant sunshine, while winter months provide a different kind of beauty with cooler temperatures and a peaceful atmosphere.
To reach the Batemans Marine Park, you can drive south from Sydney for two-and-a-half hours, or go west from Nowra for about 40 minutes. If travelling from Canberra, head east for approximately two hours.
