Description
Stepping Stones dive site is located at Bait Reef, part of the Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands.
It consists of more than 18 flat-topped coral pinnacles.
At Stepping Stones, divers can explore channels and caves that resemble stepping stones, with beautiful corals like gorgonians, sea whips, and soft corals covering each pinnacle. The site is also home to a diverse range of marine life, including batfish, gropers, sweetlips, giant Maori wrasse, trevally, coral trout, turtles, reef sharks, moray eels, and various tropical fish.
The best time to visit Stepping Stones is during the Australian summer (April - September) when the water is clear and visibility is optimal.
To reach Stepping Stones, you can take a dive tour from Airlie Beach or the Whitsunday Islands. The journey to the dive site takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes by local boat service from Airlie Beach.
