Sunnymeade Beach Aireys Inlet is a hidden gem located between Split Point Lighthouse and Urquhart Bluff on the eastern side of Aireys Inlet.
It is off the Great Ocean Road and not on the main tourist trail, making it an ideal destination for those looking to escape the crowds.
To reach Sunnymeade Beach, visitors have two options. The closest and most obvious way is a 400-meter walk from the Sunnymeade Carpark at the end of Boundary Road in Aireys Inlet. The other option is a pretty easy and stunning 1km-ish trail from Urquhart Bluff.
Sunnymeade Beach is a lovely beach, but it does come with a few challenges. The steep steps down to the beach can be off-putting for some, and during high tide, the beach is only a meter or so wide, which can be dangerous depending on the conditions. Remote surfing is possible at Sunnymeade Beach, but only for those with prior similar launching experience.
In addition to Sunnymeade Beach, there are other attractions in the Aireys Inlet area. Inlet beach, with its grassy slopes and picnic area, is perfect for those traveling with little kids, although it is not patrolled. For those looking to surf, Fairhaven, a few kilometers west, is the main surf beach and is patrolled during the summer months.
