Tamborine National Park is a protected area in the Gold Coast hinterland, managed by Scenic Rim Regional Council.
It is located 45 km south of Brisbane and offers a retreat for nature enthusiasts. The park consists of 14 reserves, with picnic areas, scenic drives, and walking trails that lead to lookouts, gorges, cliffs, waterfalls, rainforest areas, and woodlands.
The Witches Falls section is the first national park in Queensland and is situated on the eastern side of Mount Tamborine village. The main trail, Witches Falls Circuit, takes you through closed-in forest and rainforest with cycad groves, lagoons, strangler figs, and palm groves. The Palm Grove section, on the western side of Tamborine Mountain village, features the Curtis Road Track and Palm Grove Circuit, passing through rainforest, fig, and palm groves. The Joalah section, located between Witches Falls and Palm Grove, offers the Curtis Falls Walk and the Joalah Circuit, where visitors can spot brush-turkeys.
MacDonald Park is located in Eagle Heights, adjacent to the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens, and has a rainforest circuit with named plants. The Knoll section is in the northwest of North Tamborine and offers the Cameron Falls Circuit, showcasing rainforest, open forest, and unique flora. Cedar Creek section, accessed via Cedar Creek Falls Road, features the Cedar Creek Circuit, leading visitors through cascades, rock pools, and various plant communities. Niche's Corner, approximately 20 km north of the Knoll, offers expansive views of the Gold Coast and can be explored via the Niches Lookout Circuit.
