Welcome to Tapping
Tapping was established in the early 1990s as a subdivision of Wanneroo, originally as part of the Carramar estate.
It is bounded by Wanneroo Road to the west, Joondalup Drive to the north and Pinjar Road to the south/east.

Tapping is part of the City of Wanneroo local government area and sits within the City’s Established Central Place Management Area.
Just under 10,000 people currently live in Tapping, with the population estimated to reduce slightly over the next 20 years).
Tapping contains one private school, St Stephen's School, Carramar Campus, and two public schools: Tapping Primary School and Spring Hill Primary School. Both schools provide education from Kindergarten through to Year 6.
The suburb is also home to eleven parks with a variety of amenities including BBQ and exercise equipment.
Origin of name and history
Tapping was chosen as the suburb name in honour of an early settler family in the Wanneroo area.
William (Snr) and Mary Tapping came to the Wanneroo region in 1886 and established a property at the 16 Mile Peg, Wanneroo Road, where they grew vegetables and later established a dairy farm. Their granddaughters, Molly and Dolly Tapping, ran the combined post office and general store in Wanneroo from 1937 until 1964 when they retired. Dolly was a life member of the Wanneroo Agricultural Society.
In 1905, William Tapping (Jnr) and wife Lucy Jane and their family moved to the 18 Mile Peg, Pinjar Road, where William ran a small dairy and grew vegetables by Lake Mariginiup. To make extra money he cut and carted swamp rushes to Monteith's Rope Works in Subiaco.
William Tapping (Jnr) served several terms on the Wanneroo Roads Board from 1905 to 1948. He was also an integral member of the Wanneroo Agricultural Society. The name for the suburb was approved on 4 December 1997.
