Tarra Bulga National Park

Tarra Bulga National Park is a significant national park located in the South Gippsland region of eastern Victoria, Australia.

It covers an area of 1,522 hectares and is situated in the eastern part of the Strzelecki Ranges. The park is one of the last undisturbed remnants of the native eucalypt temperate rainforest that once covered the area.

The park has a rich history, with the first area being reserved in 1904 and named Bulga National Park. In 1906, Tarra Valley National Park was designated temporarily and later merged with Bulga National Park to form Tarra-Bulga National Park. The park has grown in size over the years and now covers 2,015 hectares.

Tarra Bulga National Park features several walking tracks, including the Tarra Valley Rainforest Walk and the Fern Gully Nature Walk. The park is also connected to the adjacent Morwell National Park by the 100-kilometre Grand Strzelecki Track.

The park is a popular tourist attraction and has a visitor centre, picnic areas, and other amenities. It is known for its diverse ecosystem, including wet sclerophyll tall open forest, cool temperate rainforest, and open forest. The park is home to a variety of plants and wildlife, including giant mountain ash trees, birds, possums, owls, bats, wombats, and platypuses.

Since 2010, Tarra Bulga National Park has been jointly managed by Parks Victoria and the Gunaikurnai people, who are the traditional owners of the land.
