Description
The Tathra Headland Walk is a popular all-abilities pathway in the coastal town of Tathra, New South Wales, Australia.
Stretching for just 300m, it offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and many of the Sapphire Coast’s most enduring features.
The walk provides breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, especially during the annual whale migration from Antarctica along the NSW coastline. From August through November, visitors have the best chance of seeing whales, dolphins, and seabirds. The walkway connects the Tathra Headland and the historic Tathra Wharf, which is visually stunning and made from reclaimed wharf timbers. Boardwalks, walking paths, and an elevated viewing platform allow visitors to explore the headland and its surroundings.
The Tathra Headland Walk is best enjoyed on balmy and sunny days, from early spring to summer, when the marine life and regional flora are most lively. The optimal time for whale watching is from August through November.
Getting to the Tathra Headland Walk is easy as it is located in the heart of Tathra. Visitors can reach the headland by car, motorbike, bicycle, or public transport. Shuttle services, taxis, and car rental services are available for those without their own transportation.
