Description
The Lady Barron Foreshore Walk is a picturesque coastal bush track that extends from slipway to Yellow Beach, offering breathtaking views of rocky outcrops and the sea.
Yellow Beach provides swimming opportunities, along with a free gas BBQ and overnight camping facilities, making it convenient for those arriving on an evening ferry.
During the walk, visitors can immerse themselves in the stunning coastal vegetation and the beauty of lichen-covered granite. The highlight of the hike is the golden sands of Yellow Beach, which can be enjoyed at low tide. At high tide, it is advisable to take Pot Boil Road.
The walk is 1.75 km long and takes approximately 25 minutes to complete one-way. It can be done in either direction and takes around an hour for a full return trip. Visitors should exercise caution as the track consists of steps, rocky outcrops, and soft sand, requiring a basic level of fitness.
Springtime is a particularly beautiful time to visit the Lady Barron Foreshore Walk, with various flowering plants such as greenwood and sun orchids in bloom. The walk offers fantastic views of the outer islands and glimpses of Franklin Sound towards Cape Barren Island.
To access the Lady Barron Foreshore Walk, visitors can travel to Lady Barron Island via ferry or boat services. Once on the island, the track is easily accessible from Slipway Road.
