It incorporates three iconic outback tracks - Birdsville, Strzelecki, and Oodnadatta - as well as the Simpson Desert to the top of South Australia. The area is known for its diverse range of environments, including sandy and stony deserts, floodplains, mountain ranges, and wetlands, which invite travellers to explore this unique region.

The Outback Loop Innamincka is accessible by road and can be accessed via the Birdsville, Strzelecki or Oodnadatta tracks. All the tracks are well maintained, and roads are continuously monitored to inform drivers of any problems such as, weather events, flooding, etc. Off-road camping spots are available for travellers seeking to indulge in a unique and authentic experience.

The three iconic outback tracks on the Loop feature some of South Australia's quirkiest towns, characters, and little-visited attractions. Travellers can explore these attractions and indulge in activities such as hiking, birdwatching, visiting hot springs or taking scenic drives to experience the natural beauty of the region.
