It opened in 1868 and has remained the principal hotel in Featherston ever since. The hotel displays the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom, making it one of only two hotels in New Zealand to do so. It combines NZ Colonial and Victorian architecture with the industrial and military history of Featherston. The hotel offers a 19th century steam-punk experience from the heart of Featherston.
