Description
The Sole Walk at Hillocks Drive in Marion Bay is a challenging and rewarding coastal walk that is part of the Walk the Yorke trail on Yorke Peninsula.
This linear five-hour walk offers stunning views of the rugged coastline, quiet sandy beaches, and pristine rock pools. Along the way, you can observe abundant wildlife and marine life, as well as enjoy bird-watching.
The Sole Walk is a category 3 walk, suitable for experienced and sure-footed walkers wearing sturdy footwear. The main challenge is traversing the rocky beach line, so it's important to plan the walk with the prevailing wind behind you for a better experience. The best time to take on this walk is on a hot summer day, and it's recommended to pack lunch, snacks, water, and your bathing suit to cool off in one of the rock pools. There is a shelter with BBQ for a lunch stop.
To get to The Sole Walk, start at Butlers Beach and choose between two different locations: Kangaroo Island Lookout and return or Meehan Lookout and return. This is a one-day walk that will take approximately five hours, so make sure to come prepared with appropriate gear, snacks, and water.
