Description
Dancing under the stars at the Quarry Amphitheatre- this year we’ve got three world premieres that celebrate the relationship between land, sky and music.
From dance drawing on rich Indigenous history to neo-classical pieces en-pointe, there are few Perth nights out as iconic as this.
Ballet at the Quarry invites you to witness the magic of contemporary dance in an open-air setting with a stunning collection of three world premiere works from three exciting Australian choreographers. Drawing from the rich tapestry of the West Australian landscape, dancers are pulled into a wild embrace of textures and unique elements that reflect the vastness of the night sky and the stories that surround us in this place.
Loughlan Prior brings his extensive international experience to the new ensemble work The Wild Between Stars. Tara Gower, a Yawuru woman from Broome and former dancer with Bangarra Dance Theatre brings together her heritage and contemporary style in Ripples. This new work pays homage to the importance of identity stemming from First Nations people's connection to the land, saltwater and freshwater. Lucas Jervies draws inspiration from the 150th anniversary Tchaikovsky’s iconic Piano Concerto to create a neo-classic work that reaches for the stars.
Settle in for a picnic and enjoy an unforgettable evening of graceful movement and innovative choreography.
