Description
Tolderol Game Reserve is a protected area located on the north-western side of Lake Alexandrina in South Australia.
Covering an area of 4.28 square kilometers, it is classified as an IUCN Category VI protected area. The reserve has a history of being proclaimed under different conservation acts, eventually being reconstituted as a game reserve under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972.
The reserve is home to a diverse range of bird species and other wildlife. It consists of low samphire and bulrush flats with shallow pools, making it an ideal habitat for waterfowl. Some uncommon bird species that can be observed in the reserve include the glossy ibis, lesser golden plover, double-banded dotterel, and sandpiper. Modifications have been made to enhance the habitat for waterfowl, and the reserve allows for duck shooting during the open season.
