Description
Town Observation Tower Port Hedland is a must-visit landmark in Western Australia.
Located behind the tourism office in the middle of the town, this metal tower offers a panoramic view of the township, the river, and the port. Visitors can spend as much time as they like taking in the view and enjoying the surroundings.
Apart from the stunning views, visitors can take pictures with the statue in front of the tower. The tower is the perfect spot for taking photos and watching large ships coming in and out of the port. Though climbing the stairs to the top was once allowed, it's no longer allowed.
The weather is cooler and drier during this time, making it more comfortable to climb the tower and enjoy the view.
Visitors can drive or walk to the Port Hedland Visitor Centre, located at 13 Wedge Street. The tower is located behind the visitor centre, and there is plenty of parking available nearby. Admission to the tower is free.
Apart from the Town Observation Tower, there are other things to see and do in Port Hedland. Visitors can explore the nearby beaches, go fishing, or take a tour of the port. The Don Rhodes Mining and Transport Museum is also worth a visit, which provides a fascinating insight into the history of the town and the mining industry that drives its economy.
Make sure to add Town Observation Tower Port Hedland to your itinerary when visiting Western Australia.
