The Twelve Apostles are a collection of eight limestone rock stacks jutting from the water, situated between Princetown and Peterborough on the Great Ocean Road. Despite the name, there are only nine rock formations. The Apostles were originally known as the Sow and Piglets until 1922 when they were renamed for tourism purposes.

There are many things to see and do at the Twelve Apostles. Walking the Great Ocean Walk to the Twelve Apostles is a must-do activity for those who enjoy hiking. The walk is around 100 kilometers long and takes around 8 days to complete. Exploring the dramatic coastline is another popular activity, with several lookouts providing an excellent view of the rock stacks. Visitors can also witness the historic shipwreck displayed at the Twelve Apostles Visitor Information Centre situated in Port Campbell.

It is recommended to time your visit with sunset to see the incredible view of the rock stacks. The best time to visit the Twelve Apostles is during the summer months of December to February when the weather is warm and sunny. Spring and autumn are also good times to visit as the weather is mild and there are fewer crowds.
