Located along the West Rim walking track in Morton National Park, the Twin Falls Lookout is an excellent place to visit for visitors who want to take in scenic views while out on a walk.
The lookout offers visitors three vantage points that are great for taking in picturesque surrounds and enjoying stunning views.
When you visit the Twin Falls Lookout, you'll get to see Twin Falls, which fluctuates with the seasons, as well as expansive views of sub-tropical rainforest and Yarrunga Creek. From this location, you can take in the breathtaking views of lush vegetation, including gums, wattle, casuarinas, and wildflowers that add bursts of color when in bloom. The area is also an excellent spot for birdwatching, so keep your eyes open for different bird species.
The best time to visit Twin Falls Lookout is during the months of September to November as this is when the wildflowers are in bloom, and the weather is mild.
To get to the Twin Falls Lookout, you can start from Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre and follow the West Rim walking track. It's about a 5.5km walk, and the track is rated as a hard walk. If you prefer a shorter walk, you can start from the Gambells Rest picnic area and make a 2.6km trek. Ensure to carry drinking water along with you, and remember to wear comfortable shoes and clothes during the walk.
