The boardwalk is a picturesque walk that passes along the banks of the Kalang River to the junction with the Bellinger River and out to the ocean, with stunning views inland past Urunga town and up the river valleys to the Great Dividing Range, north across the rivers to Mylestom Spit. The Urunga Wetlands Boardwalk leads visitors to the leash-free pet-friendly beach area to the south of the river mouth. This feature is a perfect way for families to bond and enjoy the outdoors with their furry friends. Visitors to Urunga Wetlands Boardwalk can also explore the expansive wetland habitat which has undergone extensive remediation and parkland work costing $10 million. The area has been transformed from a once barren wasteland to a lively wetland habitat with a significant improvement to the water quality and a recovery of the ecosystem. The site features a 150-metre boardwalk allowing visitors to explore over the wetlands and the 450-meter walking trail surrounding the park.
