The jet boat ride covers 94 kilometers and takes passengers from Lake Manapouri to the sea, winding through the Waiau Valley. The ride includes a breathtaking journey across Lake Hauroko and down to the rugged southern coast via the wild Wairaurahiri River.The tour offers a unique opportunity to experience the pristine natural beauty of the Fiordland National Park, including the Waitutu Forest, Lake Hauroko, and the Wairaurahiri River. The tour includes a venison BBQ lunch at Waitutu Lodge, which is located in the heart of the Waitutu Forest. The tour guide, Johan, is known for his amazing local knowledge and stories about the region. The tour is a must-do for anyone visiting the area and is suitable for all ages.The Wairaurahiri Jet adventure in Fiordland National Park is very much a small group tour. The day begins in Te Anau in the early morning, and the tour starts with a leisurely 10km jet boat ride across Lake Hauroko. On a clear day, this part of the tour is incredibly serene – the waters are calm, and the skies are crisp-clear. The tour includes short guided walks and a kiwi-style lunch, and magnificent scenery of the rugged south coast provides a breathtaking backdrop.The tour is a six-hour duration, and the jet boat ride covers grade 3 rapids in a specially designed twin-engine jet boat. The tour departs at 10 am from Lake Hauroko and returns at 4 pm. Helicopter Jet boat options are available, and overnight stays at Waitutu Lodge are also available.
