Description

Located just less than an hour away from Sydney, Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary Calga has been in operation since 2005.

The sanctuary is spread across 80 acres of natural bushland and is home to many of Australia's iconic wildlife. It is also important to note that this wildlife sanctuary was Heritage Listed in 2019, as a testament to preserving its Aboriginal Heritage.

Visitors to the sanctuary can partake in a range of interactive activities such as meeting Australia's friendliest wild kangaroos, wallabies, and emus. Pat a koala, encounter a meerkat, Tassie devil, dingo, python or possum. Watch flying foxes and all of Australia's other most loved animals.

The wildlife sanctuary is committed to animal welfare and conservation work, and all visitors' fees go towards supporting this goal. All animals in the sanctuary are rescues, orphaned family pets, or offspring, and some are confiscated from illegal breeders and smugglers.

The sanctuary's rangers are knowledgeable and passionate about the bush and the animals that live in it. Visitors learn about bushtucker or how to throw a boomerang.

For visitors looking to extend their stay, the sanctuary offers various types of accommodation, including cabins and a safari-tent campsite. It is an opportunity to experience the activities and behaviours of the animals after dark.

Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary Calga is open every day, except Christmas Day. It is an all-weather experience, and visitors can come in any season.

The Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary Calga is Covid Safe and takes visitors' safety seriously. Contact the sanctuary directly for its Covid Safety Plan.
