Wanneroo Secondary College is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and the development of a supportive and challenging learning environment. Set in a beautiful bush surrounding, within two kilometres of Wanneroo Central, they have been catering for the educational, personal and social development needs of the young people of Wanneroo and surrounding areas since its opening in 1977. Through their shared vision Dream, Believe, Learn, Suceed - they aim to ensure that all students have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and be positive and effective members of society. The college is extensively involved with the local communtiy through their relationships with: Wanneroo City Council, Universities and TAFE, industry groups, the Western Australian Football Commission, and the local branches of Rotary and the Army Cadets. The school is well serviced by a network of Public Transport Authority buses, providing a safe and reliable transport option for students travelling to and from school.
In addition, the college has gone through major building and program upgrades providing state-of-the-art facilities for Music and Performing Arts, dramatically expanding their computing and IT capacity and improving all other learning area environments and equipment. In 2014, the college unveiled its newest building, a split-level structure purpose-built to cater for the needs of first and future intakes of Year 7 students as they embark on their secondary education.
Their innovative curriculum caters for a full range of students’ talents and ambitions. Academic Extension and Robotics & Coding Programs in Lower School, accredited Specialist Programs (Performing Arts and Australian Rules Football), the Japanese languages, specialised TAFE-oriented studies (conducted at their Joondalup campus) and work-experience opportunities to provide clearly defined and structured pathways for students aiming for university entry and for those wanting to take up trades or other avenues of entry into the workforce.
