Description

Waratah Beach is a secluded gem located in South Gippsland, Victoria.

It is an arc of almost 20 kilometers of flat sandy beach, framed by Cape Liptrap to the west and Wilsons Promontory to the east. The bay is approximately 200 kilometers southeast of Melbourne.

There are three townships situated on the bay: Sandy Point, Waratah Bay, and Walkerville. The close proximity to Wilsons Promontory allows for a diverse range of marine life to be found in the rockpools along the shoreline. Visitors can spot sea urchins, crabs, and octopuses during their exploration.

Waratah Beach is well-equipped with resorts that line the coast. In recent years, it has become a popular spot for whale watching, as humpback, southern right whales, and others have been spotted along the shores. Visitors can witness the historic return of right whales to their wintering and calving grounds. Explore the serene and secluded Waratah Beach, truly a gem of South Gippsland, and enjoy its natural beauty and diverse marine life.
