Washpools Waterhole is a natural swimming hole located in Middle Brook.
It is a refreshing escape from the heat and is conveniently located just 500 meters away from the Washpools Picnic Area and viewing platform. The waterhole is perfect for a swim after a challenging hike, a BBQ, or a picnic. It is also easily accessible for campers at the Washpools Campground.
Surrounded by river oak forest and box woodland, Washpools Waterhole offers more than just swimming. The tranquil bushland setting provides a peaceful atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy the distinct birdcalls of woodland birds such as the grey fantail, brown-headed honeyeater, and the endangered speckled warbler. The mighty calls of kookaburras and cockatoos can also be heard. It is a great spot to have a picnic and relax by the waterhole.
The best time to visit Washpools Waterhole is during the warmer months from October to April. The water is warmer and more inviting for swimming during this time. It is important to note that weekends and school holidays tend to be busier, so planning accordingly is recommended.
To access Washpools Waterhole, head to the Washpools Picnic Area in Middle Brook. It is located just off the Merriwa – Cassilis Road and is well signposted with ample parking. From the picnic area, it is a short 500 meters walk to reach the waterhole.
