Description
Wingecarribee Reservoir Burradoo is a scenic water reserve and habitat for endangered species located approximately 10 km south-east of Bowral on the Wingecarribee River.
It is an important part of the Shoalhaven Scheme, supplying water to nearby towns and also providing additional water to top up Sydney and Illawarra water supplies during drought periods.
One of the unique features of Wingecarribee Reservoir is the ancient peat swamp located just upstream of the reservoir. This ecosystem is home to several endangered species, including the Giant Dragonfly, Blue Mountains Water Skink, and the Dusky Antechinus.

From Bowral, they can drive southeast on the Kangaloon Road, turn left onto Sheepwash Road, and then turn right onto Reservoir Road until they reach the reserve. Alternatively, visitors can take a train to Bowral and then continue by taxi or rental car to reach the reservoir.
