During this time, the weather is warm and dry, making it perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking and swimming. The wet season, which runs from November to April, can be hot and humid, with heavy rainfall and the possibility of cyclones.

To get to Wongaling Beach, visitors can fly into Cairns Airport, which is approximately 140 km away. From there, visitors can rent a car or take a shuttle bus to Wongaling Beach. Once in Wongaling Beach, the picnic area is signposted as the Alan Wheatley Memorial Park and is easily accessible by car.
