Description
Wongaling Picnic Area, also known as Alan Wheatley Memorial Park, is a small beachside playground located in Wongaling Beach, Australia.
The picnic area includes a covered picnic area with good off-street parking, making it a nice little family spot to play.
In addition to the picnic area, there are several other things to see and do in Wongaling Beach. One of the best things to do in Wongaling Beach is to take a walk through the cassowary territory. The walk is beautiful, but it is important to be cautious as cassowaries are known to inhabit the area. The walk is adjacent to a short children's walk that includes some fake cassowary footprints and eggs.
Another popular activity in Wongaling Beach is to visit the nearby Banfields Retreat, a beachfront property that sleeps six people and includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms. During this time, the weather is warm and dry, making it perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking and swimming. The wet season, which runs from November to April, can be hot and humid, with heavy rainfall and the possibility of cyclones.
To get to Wongaling Beach, visitors can fly into Cairns Airport, which is approximately 140 km away. From there, visitors can rent a car or take a shuttle bus to Wongaling Beach. Once in Wongaling Beach, the picnic area is signposted as the Alan Wheatley Memorial Park and is easily accessible by car.
