Wonthaggi Heathland and Coastal Reserve

Located in Australia, the Wonthaggi Heathland and Coastal Reserve covers an area of 811 hectares and is surrounded by 10 kilometres of rugged and unspoilt coastland.

The reserve was formed from old coastal dunes and now supports a specialised vegetation cover, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and hikers alike.

There are a number of walking trails throughout the reserve that provide visitors with the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the area. Observation platforms and bird hides are also available along some of the trails, making it an ideal location for bird watching. The reserve is home to a range of wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and a variety of bird species. Visitors also have the option of volunteering to help maintain the reserve and learn more about the plants and animals that inhabit it.

The best time to visit the Wonthaggi Heathland and Coastal Reserve is during the spring and autumn months, when the weather is mild and the reserve is in full bloom. The reserve is located near the town of Wonthaggi and the hamlet of Hamers Haven, and is easily accessible from both locations. There are several entry points, and parking is made straightforward at any of them.

Visitors must take note of safety precautions while visiting the Phillip Island and Bass Coast areas, including the reserve.
