Description

The Wool Wagon Pathway is a six-day four-wheel-drive adventure that takes you through stunning landscapes and unique flora and fauna in Western Australia's Outback.

It follows the original wool trade route and allows you to explore interpretive sites and witness striking displays of wildflowers.

Starting in Geraldton, the journey begins with a visit to the first interpretive site in Pindar, where you can learn about the legendary pioneers who traversed the region. This stretch is known for its beautiful wildflowers, particularly between June and September.

Continuing north, you'll pass through wide-open desert and working cattle stations, with the option to detour to Mount Augustus, the world's largest monolith. Gascoyne Junction offers a chance to explore relics of the pioneering era and visit Kennedy Range National Park, known for its stunning gorges and unique rock formations.

The final stretch of the adventure leads to Ningaloo Reef, a World Heritage-listed marine park teeming with coral gardens and diverse marine life. This is a popular spot to swim with whale sharks and enjoy recreational activities like swimming, snorkelling, fishing, and boating.

The best time to embark on this adventure is between June and September during the wildflower season. To get to Geraldton, you can drive or fly from Perth and rent a car upon arrival. It's important to have a reliable four-wheel-drive vehicle and pack all necessary supplies for the 1000 km journey.
