Nestled below the towering flooded gums in Sherwood Nature Reserve, Woolgoolga Creek picnic area is a picturesque and secluded spot to enjoy a picnic surrounded by the region's diverse flora and fauna.
There's plenty of space for the family to run around, and nearby rainforest and creeks to explore. The grassy recreation area allows visitors to relax, unwind and listen to the sounds of nature. Visitors can also utilize the picnic tables and barbecue facilities to cook up a storm. Visitors are treated to impressive views of blue quandongs lining the picnic area, while creatures such as goannas, brush turkeys, and over 50 species of birds are a common sight at Woolgoolga Creek. Butterfly enthusiasts will also have the chance to spot a variety of butterflies in the area. Woolgoolga Creek picnic area is open all year round, and visitors are advised to bring drinking water, sunscreen, and appropriate insect repellent. Those who are interested in visiting should note that the picnic area is not wheelchair accessible. Visitors can reach Woolgoolga Creek picnic area by taking the Bruxner Park Road exit, approximately 5.5 kilometres west of Woodburn along the Pacific Highway.
