Description
Yallum Park Penola is a stunning two-story homestead located just eight kilometres west of Penola on Millicent Road.
Built in 1878-1880 for John Riddoch, it is considered the best-preserved Victorian House in Australia in its original condition.
The homestead features striking decorations from 1879, including original wallpapers, acid-etched and stained glass windows, Italian marble mantle pieces, gold leaf, antique furniture, and a number of extremely old pieces of glass, porcelain, silver, and brass.
In addition to its well-preserved architecture, Yallum Park is known for its breathtaking garden, established in 1880. The garden is planted with trees from all parts of the world.
While Yallum Park is a private farmhouse, it is open for public viewing by appointment only. Visitors are advised to call for tour times and make an appointment beforehand.
