Description
YCW Beach, also known as Smiths Beach, is a picturesque beach located on Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia.
This 400-meter-long sandy beach is flanked by basalt headlands and rock platforms at each end, which provide stunning views of the coastline. The beach faces southeast, and visitors can enjoy the gentle, regular waves that crash onto the shore.
YCW Beach is a popular destination for both families and surfers. Families can relax and enjoy the sun by building sandcastles or playing beach games on the clean, white sand. Children can paddle along the sandy beach at low tide or take a dip in the calm waters. On the other hand, surfers can catch some of the best waves on Phillip Island at YCW Beach, especially during the winter months (June to August) when the waves are bigger and consistent. The beach has good surf when the waves are coming from the right direction, and it is also an excellent break for more experienced surfers.
The best time to visit YCW Beach is during the summer months (December to February). The weather is warm and sunny, providing the perfect conditions for spending a day at the beach.
Visitors can take a two-hour drive from Melbourne to Phillip Island to get to YCW Beach. Once on the island, follow the signs to Smiths Beach. There is a car park on the eastern Smith Point, but parking can be tight, so it is recommended to arrive early.
The Young Catholic Workers Camp is located on the grassy bluffs immediately behind the beach. Visitors who wish to stay near the beach can look into booking a
