Yenyening Lakes

This site comprises several saltwater lakes that feed into the Avon River via the Lockhart and Yilgarn Catchments, spanning across an area of 91,000 square kilometres. This accessibility to the source of freshwater makes Yenyening Lakes home to many species of waterbirds. Apart from birdwatching, Yenyening Lakes is also a popular destination for water sports. There are several activities that visitors can participate in, including kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding. Additionally, visitors can also engage in fishing, either from the shore or by boat, although a fishing license is required.

Yenyening Lakes has a Mediterranean climate, consisting of warm summers and mild winters. The best time to visit is from March to October, when the climate is mild, and the water is perfect for various water sports activities, and birdlife is abundant.

Yenyening Lakes is easily accessible, with multiple routes that do not require Four-Wheel-Drive. Visitors can take either the Beverley-York Road or the Great Southern Highway, which is approximately 14 kilometres from B
