The APY Gallery is a collective of Indigenous-owned art centres that exhibit ethically sourced Aboriginal artwork from the APY Lands, regional South Australia, and Adelaide. They have physical galleries in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, as well as an online store. The APY Art Centre Collective is 100% owned and governed by Indigenous people, ensuring ethics and authenticity in their operations. Ernabella Arts, established in 1948, is the oldest art centre in Central Australia and part of the APY Gallery collective. Umoona Art Centre, the most recent addition to the APY Gallery collective, was established in 2020 in Coober Pedy. Mimili Maku Arts, a vibrant contemporary art studio owned and governed by a strong board of Indigenous artists, is also part of the APY Art Centre Collective.
These galleries and centres provide a platform for Aboriginal artists to showcase their work and play a crucial role in supporting the local Indigenous communities. By visiting these venues, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the rich cultural heritage of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara people and appreciate the unique artistic styles and stories of the artists.
