The Elliston region in South Australia is home to the stunning Talia Caves, located on Talia Beach, approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Elliston. These natural wonders offer breathtaking scenery and unique geological formations for visitors to explore. The Talia Cave Tourist Drive leads to two prominent caves: The Woolshed and The Tub. The Woolshed is a large cavern carved into the granite cliff by wave action, with a walkway and wooden steps providing access onto the rocks to view the cave's honeycombed dark crevices and nearby blowholes. The Tub, a large crater in the cliff with a tunnel connection to the sea, is 10 to 30 meters deep and 50 meters across, featuring a granite base. Beyond The Tub is a dramatic cliff face that offers long views to the south along Talia Beach.
In addition to the caves, the region is known for its beautiful sunsets, picturesque scenery, and opportunities for surfing, fishing, and sightings of sea lions, dolphins, and southern right whales during winter. Talia Beach stretches 20 kilometers to Walkers Rock, near Elliston, offering great beach and rock fishing. When visiting the Talia Caves, it is essential to take enough food and water for your journey and stay on marked tracks for safety. The road leading to the caves is unsealed, so it is recommended to take a suitable vehicle for the terrain.
