The Coorong Region in South Australia is a place of adventure and untamed wilderness, offering activities such as bird watching, boating, kayaking, fishing, and camping. Located about a 2-hour drive south of Adelaide, the Coorong National Park extends 150 km from the Goolwa Barrage following the coast and lagoon southeast towards Meningie. One unique attraction in the region is the Point Malcolm Lighthouse, Australia's only inland lighthouse, which operated between 1878 and 1931 to guide vessels through The Narrows.
The Point Malcolm Lighthouse is located just southeast of Tailem Bend, and visitors can take a ferry to cross The Narrows while keeping an eye out for the historic lighthouse during their journey. Another point of interest in the Coorong Region is the Mark Point Mill, built between 1880 and 1890 as a reminder of the early agricultural days in the area. The region also offers experiences like canoeing, birdwatching, 4WDriving, walking trails, and scenic local drives, with 16 campgrounds throughout the park providing a range of accommodation options for visitors.
