Northwest Tasmania is home to several historic and picturesque lighthouses that are well worth a visit. Built in 1889, it features a distinctive day mark of vertical red stripes on a white background. Iron Pot Lighthouse, situated at South Arm, has been welcoming sailors to the mouth of the Derwent River for nearly two centuries.
Cape Bruny Lighthouse stands on the rugged southern tip of Bruny Island, as the fourth-oldest in Australia, it offers stunning views across the Southern Ocean. West Point Lighthouse, built in 1916 on the most westerly point of Tasmania, was replaced in 1982 by the Bluff Hill Point Lighthouse a short distance to the south. Only the concrete base remains at the original site.
These iconic lighthouses offer a glimpse into Tasmania's maritime history and provide excellent opportunities for photography and exploration.
