Darwin military museums

Established in 1969 by the Royal Australian Artillery Association (NT), the museum has grown into a major tourist attraction with an extensive collection of over 3000 objects. The exhibits focus on the 1942 air raids on Darwin, the role of the Northern Territory in World War II, and Australia's involvement in armed conflicts over the years.

Visitors can explore displays and artifacts such as artillery pieces, vehicles, and military equipment in air-conditioned comfort within a sub-tropical setting. The museum also offers an air-conditioned café and shop for refreshments and souvenirs. In 2012, the Defence of Darwin Experience was added to the museum precinct to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Darwin, featuring exhibitions, first-hand accounts, and multimedia presentations.

The museum is open daily from 9:30 am to 4 pm, except on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with entry costs ranging from $10 to $20, making it an affordable and informative attraction in the region.
