Alpine, Victoria, is home to the National Alpine Museum of Australia (NAMA), a non-profit, membership-supported museum dedicated to collecting, preserving, and exhibiting elements from the broad spectrum of ski history for research, education, and entertainment purposes. NAMA is Australia's first and largest alpine museum, with over 25,000 items covering 150+ years of Australian alpine history. The museum's collection provides a broad overview of the cultural and environmental heritage of Australia's Alpine regions and Australian winter sports. The stories of Australian winter sports are revealed through the collections, which include textiles, images and film, archival material, numismatics, artworks, and three-dimensional objects.
In addition to its main site at Mount Buller, NAMA partners with organizations across Australia's alpine regions to deliver a changing program of programs, events, and digital projects. The museum is an accredited museum and has a collection policy to guide the areas in which it collects, always interested in items that could be included in the NAMA collection.
