Kow Swamp is a freshwater lake and wetland located in the Murray River valley, in the Mallee region of north-central Victoria, Australia. Its name comes from the Aboriginal word Ghow, which describes the white gypsum soil found in the area. The lake has a circumference of 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) and is approximately 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) long and 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) wide.
Located just before entering the town of Mount Garnet from the north, Wurruma Swamp is a great destination for bird-watching and nature-lovers.
Just off Marmion Avenue, Star Swamp Reserve is home to many birds and native plants. Monthly guided walks are provided by the volunteers of the reserve.
