The Mareeba Arts Society, established in 1958 by a group of ladies, has a rich history. In 1992, the Society acquired an "A" frame building overlooking Granite Creek to serve as a club room for meetings and workshops. Over the years, the Society has expanded its facilities through fundraising efforts, including the construction of the "Creative Shed" for "dirty" crafts and additional storage.
Gallery 58, also known as The Gallery Shoppe, was created to support artists, groups, or individuals looking to showcase smaller exhibitions. The gallery is situated in the front portion of the building, which was initially used for storing equipment for the Mareeba Shire Council.
Visitors to the Mareeba region have the opportunity to explore art exhibitions and crafts at The Gallery Shoppe Gallery 58 and The Creative Shed. The gallery shop is staffed daily by volunteers from the Society, who enjoy interacting with travelers from around the globe.
