The Riverland region in South Australia is home to the Cobdogla Steam Museum, which showcases the history of irrigation and steam technology in the area. The museum features the Humphrey Pump, a National and International Engineering Heritage Landmark, as well as restored and working engines, and train rides for visitors to enjoy. SA Water has locked the gates on the volunteers of the Cobdogla Steam Friends Society and excluded members of the public from the museum. To address these issues, a "Save the Cobdogla Museum" sub-committee has been formed, with input from the Berri Barmera Council and local members of the Cobdogla Steam Friends Society Inc.
While the Cobdogla Steam Museum is currently inaccessible, visitors interested in railway museums can explore other options in South Australia, such as the Tailem Rail Museum. The Tailem Rail Museum focuses on the history of railway transportation in the region and offers a unique insight into the past.
